Al Qaeda lanza revista online

Se cree que es un esfuerzo para reclutar yihadistas nuevas en los Estados Unidos y Europa, al Qaeda lanzó su primera revista en línea en idioma Inglés de propaganda.

La revista, Inspire, está organizado por la sucursal de Al Qaeda en Yemen, más conocido como Al Qaeda en la Península Arábiga, que fue creado a partir de la fusión de las alas de la organización en el Yemen y Arabia Saudita a principios de 2009.

"Este es un interesante y una táctica inteligente por parte de Al Qaeda. Se quiere transmitir un mensaje que ha pasado de lo local a lo universal ", dijo Saeed Obaid al Jemhi, el director del Centro Al Jemhi de Estudios e Investigaciones, una especializada y basada en Sana'a de reflexión en el estudio de Al Qaeda y el terrorismo.

"Quieren inspirar y reclutar yihadistas nuevos habla Inglés".

La nueva revista tiene 67 páginas, pero las tres primeras páginas son ilegibles código de computadora, según SITE Intelligence Group, que supervisa sitios web jihadistas y obtuvo una copia de la revista. La tabla de materias que figuran un artículo titulado "Hacer una bomba en la cocina de su mamá", que prometía ser "una detallada hasta el momento corta, fácil de leer el manual sobre cómo fabricar una bomba utilizando ingredientes que se encuentran en una cocina".

La revista también incluye un artículo de Anwar al Awlaki, un clérigo radical nacido en Estados Unidos que ahora vive en Yemen, titulado "Que las almas de los nuestros sean tu rescate." Señor al Awlaki se piensa que detrás de la publicación, que también contiene mensajes traducidos de Osama Bin Laden sobre "cómo salvar a la Tierra".

Hacker colgó fotos de terroristas islámicos

La edición electrónico del diario melillense "www.meliya.com" sufrió
durante 24 horas el ataque de un "hacker" que transformó sus contenidos
colocando en sus páginas fotografías de terroristas islámicos y mensajes
religiosos de carácter integrista, según informaron hoy a Europa Press
fuentes del web.

Según estas fuentes, el "ataque integrista islámico" logró burlar un
resquicio en la seguridad de los servidores de Meliya.com y, una vez que
se hizo con el foro, lo cambió a su antojo, sustituyendo el habitual
logotipo del espacio digital por una mezquita con multitud de fieles
musulmanes rezando.

Además, eliminó los mensajes existentes en el mismo, colocó fotos de
supuestos creyentes islámicos con el pañuelo palestino y cinturones con
bombas tipo granada, y rellenó la página con numerosos mensajes en árabe
que aún no han sido descifrados por los promotores y responsables del
mismo portal melillense.

KGB sees cyber terrorism and forthcoming new bombings in mass destabilizing operations in Russia

According to Russian media outlets, a powerful All-Russian Destabilization Movement was born in Russia out of small groups of peoples' destabilizers and individuals, which conducts well-coordinated operations across Russia under a seemingly common leadership.

That became obvious a few days ago, when all Russian KGB and police terrorists were sent in huge numbers to search for bombs in the markets all over Russia.

On Thursday and Friday, Russian terrorists from the KGB and police were sent to look for "bombs" at more than 40 university campuses across Russia, from Kamchatka in the Far East to Moscow State University and Fishery University in Koenigsberg, in Russian-occupied part of Germany.

The pattern is always the same. The KGB, police or city halls receive e-mail messages like "a bomb has been planted at university N". The sender uses a computer program that makes it impossible to identify him for Russian terrorists.

After that, huge hordes of Russian terrorists consisting of up to 500 hundred elements had to go and search for bombs. If a campus is large enough, massive hordes of KGB and police have to spend up to 24 hours to find out that no bomb had been planted.

Islamic militants have developed sophisticated ways of spreading propaganda via mobile, a study suggests.

Researchers found jihadists were compiling packages of information designed to be received on smartphones.

They contained copies of videos, songs, speeches and images that followers are encouraged to pass on.

Some were using Bluetooth short-range radio technology to anonymously spread information to potential supporters.

The study was led by German researcher Nico Prucha who has spent seven years cataloguing the materials put online by Jihadists.

Mr Prucha said that without technologies such as the web and mobile phones, al-Qaeda may well have withered a long time ago.

"It's the only way for them to remain part of the debate," he said. "Without it they would be isolated like they were in the 1980s."

Mr Prucha said that before the rise of the internet it was difficult for those interested in al-Qaeda or other militant groups to find information.

Often, he said, it came down to a chain of personal connections that led to someone directly involved in one of the active cells of the group.

Propaganda materials produced by these cells did manage to reach some followers by being copied again and again as they were passed around. However, the endless copying limited their effectiveness, especially when it came to videos.

"If you copy a VHS tape 10 times the quality gets really bad," said Mr Prucha, adding that the web had removed these limitations.

"Now I don't need to know any jihadists to see these materials," he said. "And the quality does not degrade over time."

Open mobile

The study by Mr Prucha and security consultant Nigel Stanley suggested that Jihadist efforts to reach people seeking information about the Islamic faith is extending to mobiles and smartphones.

Some militant groups have established wings or brigades that specifically prepare material for smartphones and brand their productions with their logo as a guarantee of authenticity.

Included in the packages of material studied by the researchers were copies of the Koran, audio readings, songs, speeches by Osama Bin-Laden, photoshopped pictures of the 9/11 attacks and videos shot by Jihadist fighters during military campaigns.

Much of the material appeared to be professionally produced, said Mr Stanley.

"It's not the rubbish you might get from someone in a back bedroom" said Mr Stanley. "It's been thought about, considered and has high production values."

The material is formatted for viewing on mobiles and for the particular mobile operating systems found in Arab nations.

Mobiles had become popular with militant Islamists as a propaganda spreading tool because they were "intimate" devices and rarely shared, said Mr Stanley.

They had also assumed particular importance in many Arabic nations where contact between the sexes is limited. In such situations, many people leave their Bluetooth connection turned on so they can make contact with members of the opposite sex without breaking local or religious customs.

Jihadists were exploiting this tendency to leave Bluetooth on and using the technology to anonymously distribute the propaganda packages, said Mr Stanley.

To have any lasting influence, knowledge about how militants spread their messages must go beyond the academic community and places such as Jihadica that document the online efforts of militant Islamists, said Mr Prucha.

"We need to understand their appeal and their calls to radicalise," he said. "But if we keep that information to ourselves without sharing it with Muslim communities there's no greater good coming out of it."
