NO NOOOOOO.... para nada... me refiero a que hay sitios en España dónde poder hacer "otro" tipo de cursos, lo cierto es que solo se me ocurre 1, pero haberlo "haylo".... nada comparable con lo que podemos econtrar fuera de nuestras fronteras, pero si adaptables a otro tipo de cursos que se salgan de lo convencional.
Yo no pienso que seré viejo cuando vea algo como Olive en España, simplemente se que no lo veré nunca.

De todos modos y como en nuestro querido país nos encanta marcar las diferencias incluso cuando entrenamos, habría que ver si despuès de encontrar el sitio, se podría hacer el curso con toda la gente que quisiera? y no lo digo por el marco legal, que si me atengo a eso no hacemos nada, lo digo por la propia gente que lo formaría, seguro que alguno habría que diría que algún otro no PODRÍA hacerlo.... me comprendes???

Algunos de los nombres que aparecen en el documento aparecen luego en Air America, empresas de aviación basadas en Virginia y Florida, cambios de matrícula sin parar,... hasta las empresas de aviación actuales. Por supuesto pasando siempre por el subidón que representó la caida del comunismo para el transporte aéreo en este sector.

¿Os acordáis de Imminent Fury y el SuperTucano de Presidential Airways que los SEAL tenían en pruebas? Para antes de 2010 se espera tener ya cuatro aparatos modificados, y antes del próximo verano un total de 10 aviones COIN/ISR en dedicación exclusiva basados en Afganistán. Aún está por decidir si las tripulaciones serán militares o contratistas, pero los Flying Tigers vuelven.

Secret Program Works to Field SEAL Plane

In a move that harkens back to the days of recycled World War II torpedo bombers sheep-dipped as close air support planes, the Navy intends to field a limited number of turbo-prop attack planes outfitted with the most modern surveillance, tracking and weapons systems to help special ops forces keep track of bad guys and, in a pinch, put warheads on foreheads.

Call it an A-1 Skyraider on steroids – a “Back to the Future”-resurrection of a kind of plane last seen pounding enemy positions with rockets, guns and bombs over Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the 1960s.

Code named “Imminent Fury,” the classified, year-long program has so far produced one fully-outfitted plane and is set to field four more to directly support SEALs and other operators on the battlefield in Afghanistan.

According to a source close to the program who declined to be named, the Navy has leased an EMB-314 Super Tucano for the job. Made by the Brazilian aerospace company Embraer, it is now being tested on desert ranges in California and the service’s top test facility at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md. The Navy loaded it up with sensors and weapons systems that “would make an F-16 pilot blush,” the source said.

With top end electro-optical and infrared sensors, laser and GPS-guided bombs, rockets, twin .50 cal. machine guns, encrypted radios – and even the capability to tie in UAV surveillance feeds – the Super Tucano outfitted for the SEALs is a ground-pounder’s angel from above.

Military.com contacted the Navy for comment on this story, but despite a detailed public briefing on the program in March by a high-ranking program official, the service declined to elaborate on the program other than to say in a written statement: “Imminent Fury is a classified Navy initiative to address urgent warfighter needs. Initial developmental testing has been promising and the Navy is currently conducting discussions with our Joint partners on various courses of action as this initiative moves forward.”

News of the Imminent Fury program comes as commanders in Afghanistan wrestle with the persistent problem of civilian casualties resulting from errant or mistaken bomb strikes – typically from aircraft high above the battlefield.

A recent investigation report on a high-profile friendly-fire incident in Farah province showed that high-altitude B-1 bombers had little ability to discriminate enemy from civilians during several bombings in support of Marine spec ops forces under Taliban assault.

Many argue that low-altitude aircraft that can fly for long periods over combat zones loaded with various weapons are needed to avoid such incidents. For advocates of the Imminent Fury program, the Super Tucano – with its five-hour endurance – fits the bill for a so-called “counter insurgency aircraft.”

“The SEALs said ‘we want a persistent capability at low cost, small footprint and turbo-prop aircraft to do armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions,’ ” the source close to the program said. “Everyone who gets briefed on this program has been blown away.”

Over the past year, both Navy and Air Force pilots have flown the leased Super Tucano in tests. According to the source, the single-engine, two-pilot plane has successfully dropped both laser and GPS guided bombs, as well as a wide range of guided and unguided rockets.

According to statistics from an Embraer brochure, the EMB-314 has a maximum speed of nearly 370 mph and a maximum ceiling of 35,000 feet. The plane can take off and land in just under 3,000 feet and can carry a maximum load of nearly 3,500 pounds.

The initial cadre of four SEAL-supporting Super Tucanos will be flown by Navy pilots activated as individual augmentees, and multiple sources close to the program report that aviators are clamoring to get involved with the program.

But it is still unclear whether Imminent Fury will get off the ground since funding for the program is in doubt. Sources say there is no money earmarked for the program in the 2010 budget but that the service “is hoping for some reprogramming authority” to move funds from other accounts to buy the four planes requested by the SEALs.

kilo, me parece que Christian no cae en un detalle clave en este asunto.

No aparece el presupuesto para este programa porque no es una compra de la US Navy, SOCOM o ningún otro mando, es un contrato, con los aparatos alquilados a una empresa, que además pondrá el apoyo logístico en zona, entrenará a los pilotos y -muy probablemente- pondrá también pilotos. En Maryland está establecido una célula NSW-IWO-"Inserte empresa aquí" para crear la doctrina con este aparato, y en California están DOS SuperTucanos, armados y dotados de un montón de sensores, haciendo ejercicios día y noche junto a los SEAL.

La idea es tener cuatro SuperTucano en zona antes de que acabe el año, pero dependerá de como de rápido consiguen tener todo organizado. Los aparatos, los 4 para este año y los 10 para el año que viene, serán todos alquilados. La duda es si la empresa pondrá no solo los aviones y el apoyo logístico, sino si pondrá pilotos, operadores de armas (los SuperTucano son biplaza, la idea es que el operador de armas actúe de FAC-aéreo), las dos cosas o ninguna.

Imminent Fury arranca en 2008 tras una petición de 2007, en 2009 tienen el avión de pruebas y el programa en marcha, y en 2010 tiene que estar funcionando todo. ¿Alguien quiere echar cuentas de lo que habrían tardado de haber querido seleccionar un avión COIN, hacer el concurso, volver a hacer el concurso por las protestas de los perdedores, la pelea con la USAF por ver quien asume el mando, seleccionar pilotos, entrenarlos, etc....? "Faster, better, cheaper"

Una cosa está clara, tanto si la US Navy tira de Individual Augmentees (que pueden ser reservistas) o la empresa contrata pilotos, va a haber ostias por meterse en esto.

Bueno parece que he nacido en el país equivocado, a ver si me cambio de nacionalidad jaja!
No entiendo que en España sea todo tan dificil, aunque tengamos menos medios para instrucción, os aseguro que el nivel y la profesionalidad no tiene nada que envidiar, la falta de medios agudiza el ingenio. He tenido la ocasión de trabajar con esta gente y lo que se ha hecho en este país en alguna ocasión, no lo ha hecho ninguna Fuerza Aérea del mundo. Vale que la falta de medios ha forzado que el tema traspasara algun limite que alguno tacharía de temerario,pero el éxito siempre ha estado garantizado. Lo malo es que creo que me voy a retirar antes de que se me presente alguna oportunidad. El problema de este país son los intermediarios que se creen con no se que derechos (como dice una famosa canción canaria) y siempre hay alguien que se cree mas listo y que la tiene mas larga que lo los demas y se quiere quedar con todo.
Ahora o nunca, es el momento de las pmc en España si se consigue hacer bien, aunque ya aparecerá alguien que querrá sacar tajada.
